EVENTS

  • Summer events at Community Stage… help GICCA with setup, sales, parking, etc.. 

  • Community 4th of July picnic is operated by GICCA offering lots of jobs for volunteers - contact volunteer@myguemes.org.

  • Green Guemes Lecture Series info@myguemes.org help develop and offer stewardship, gardening, health, and environmental topics.

  • Bake Sales!! The Pie Sale Labor Day Weekend and the Winter Art Market and Studio tour Bake Sales need your goodies! Island bakers are the reason these events are so popular and so beneficial.

  • GICCA – Support for family events at hall or stage like bingo, games or movies.

  • GICCA – Help with annual events like Holiday Dinner or Art Tour Bake Sale… or revive past events like Talent Show, Black & White Dinner, Auction or more. 


FACILITY MAINTENANCE

  • GICCA – Taking care of our Historic Community Hall… paint, repair, clean, etc… we match skills or interests with projects like repair/painting or deck 

  • GICCA – Completing the storage unit at the Community Stage to be used to support events. Be part of the team or on-call for quick response projects as needed.


LANDSCAPE CARE

  • GICCA - Wednesday work party at Community Stage 9:00 – 10:30

  • GICCA – Schedule a time to bring your mower to help with lawn care in the Community Stage corner of the site.  At the Community Hall a mower is provided if you have the time. 

  • With a Firewise Grant, GICCA helps support fire prevention efforts across the island. 


ACTIVITIES

  • Guemes Island Art Initiative GIA@myguemes.org connecting artists with community. Help with an event or offer to lead an art activity. Volunteers install signs for Studio Tour in December, etc…

  • Pickleball at the Park go to “Team Reach” and log in at GuemesI” for info… help organize events and teach others. 

  • GICCA offers facilities, but needs volunteers to organize/promote programs throughout the year. Have a skill to offer, like leading an exercise class? These activities only happen because of people dedicating time to the community to share their skills, passion, and knowledge. The Hall and the Stage are used for recreation activities, programs, community member use, and rentals.

  • Join Groundfloor Guemes with annual events like Strawberry Sundae Social or Island Cleanup.


COMMUNITY SUPPORT

  • Guemes Emergency Team GET@myguems.org creating a communication network and neighborhood support for emergency planning

  • Use your writing and technology skills to assist GICCA with island communication including “myGuemes.org” website, monthly newsletter, program promotional flyers and event promotion on social media. 

  • GICCA fundraising and/or grant writing to support island needs including the Guemes Gold youth scholarship fund, social needs and a variety of programs. 

  • GICCA holds an annual election for the Board of Directors each fall and welcomes new Board members as well as needing volunteers to assist with the election process.
